Day 4: 2000 Miles Down
Today was a bit of a long day - from outside Oklahoma City, to Wichita and lunch with my lawschool friend Jaime, through Kansas City, and then calling it a day about 90 miles from St. Louis.
I find that, while normally I can drive fine at night, my eyes are more tired after a day of driving so I can only drive a couple of hours after the sun sets. It is kind of a bummer.
But on the upside, I am...
Missouri wins...
… for most “adult” megastores along I-70. Bible country my ass!
Day 3: And We're Back to Flat
Super flat. Mind-numbingly flat. It’s pretty nuts how boring the second part of New Mexico, and the Texas panhandle, happen to be.
Today was 652 miles of uninteresting scenery, and 652 different Christian stations explaining how I was going to hell for supporting healthcare reform.
Big thanks to everyone who called or took the time to answer my call today. It helped pass the time through a...
Day 2: Flat Gives Way to Pretty
Here it is in a nutshell.
Tumbleweeds annihilated by my car at 80 mph: 2
Bugs vs. Windshield tally: Windshield 47, Bugs 0
Ramada Inns stayed at so that I can have Internet access and confirm my starting lineup for fantasy football tomorrow: Just the 1
As the pic below indicates, I took a short detour today to Meteor Crater. It’s only 6 miles off of I-40 so I figured, why not. I have...
Day 1 (or 1/2)
I’m in Boron, CA.
Packing up the car and cleaning the apartment took the entire morning, but at 1 pm I was ready to go.
Oakland had other plans. Half of Lakeshore was closed for paving, including the entrance to 580 East, my point of departure. Traffic and backtracking meant departure at about. 2.
But I logged 365 good miles, before calling it a day. I’m pretty exhausted...
The Revised Route →
Weather concerns have led me to create a new route. This still lets me go through Wichita and Somerset to see folk, but avoids the potentially snowy weather of Denver, etc.
This Takes a Lot of Preparation
I like the idead of Tumblr for specific projects, so here we go:
Specific Project: Get my ass back to Washington, D.C.
It’s a long drive, and I have to get rid of approximately 85% of my stuff if I’m going to make it succesfully. Anybody need some Ikea furniture?
I gotta donate a ton of books to the library.
Does anyone know what to do with old National Geographics? They’re...
